Canton City Schools
Canton City Schools’ (CCS) students stand out as an exception to the rule when it comes to academic performance. The Thomas Fordham Institute’s recent newsletter states that CCS students outperform EdChoice voucher students in Canton in every subject and grade, and in the case of fourth-grade math they do so by 37 percentage points. These results are somewhat of an anomaly as voucher students in the remaining Big 8 districts perform fairly well comparatively. “Canton City is delivering a better education to our students than the local charter and private schools. This is the first time we have seen from the private schools, and we are ecstatic,” said Michele Evans, Superintendent. “Our staff and students are working hard and this is another nice, external validation to our work,” said Evans.
