The Village of Silver Lake has a rich and colorful history. The Village began as an amusement park that included an airport and racetrack. At the height of its success, the park had 10,000 visitors a day. The park was sold in 1917 and subdivided for residential building. The Village was incorporated in 1918.
The Village is home to approximately 2,700 residents. Silver Lake Residents enjoy a multitude of educational, recreational, and cultural opportunities. Village residents can find quality academics at institutions such as Kent State University and the University of Akron; enjoy a stroll in the MetroParks; attend an Akron Aeros game; or take pleasure in listening to a musical event at Blossom Music Center.
